Project Overview
Music is inherently social, but traditional playlist creation often leaves one person doing most of the work. SharePlay was created to make that experience collaborative, giving friends a simple way to build a playlist together instead of passing control from one person to another.
The platform lets a host create and name a playlist, while friends can join by searching for the playlist within the SharePlay app. Participants can then add songs from their own libraries, creating a shared playlist shaped by everyone involved.
AppZoro's role was to turn that concept into a mobile product across iOS and Android, with the experience centered on straightforward navigation, collaborative playlist creation and real-time synchronization between users.
Technical Challenges
Building a cross-platform music experience where multiple users could create, update, and share playlists together in real time.
-
Notifications that help rather than nag
SharePlay needed to deliver a consistent experience across iOS and Android. Supporting multiple mobile platforms required attention to how the product behaved and appeared across different devices.
-
The central value of SharePlay depends on multiple users interacting with the same playlist. Keeping playlist updates synchronized between participants introduced a key technical requirement.
-
The user experience needed to stay straightforward even though the product had to manage authentication, shared playlist activity and real-time data.
Solution
AppZoro built SharePlay around a simple collaborative flow, combining native mobile development with real-time synchronization and secure user access.
-
AppZoro designed SharePlay around a straightforward collaboration model: one user creates a playlist, names it, and invites friends to join. Other users can search for the playlist within the app and become part of the same shared music experience, keeping the core journey simple from the moment a playlist is created.
-
Once users join a playlist, they can contribute songs from their own music libraries rather than relying on a single person to manage the entire collection. The application was built to support real-time playlist updates, allowing contributions from multiple participants to become part of the shared experience while keeping the interaction easy to follow.
-
To support the product across both major mobile platforms, AppZoro developed SharePlay for iOS and Android using Swift and Kotlin, with Firebase supporting backend requirements such as real-time data synchronization and user authentication.

Journey to Success
-
Requirements & Product Planning
The project began with discussions around user requirements and the core SharePlay experience. The focus was on how users would create playlists, join them and collaborate around music.
-
UI/UX Design
The interface was designed around ease of use and accessibility, making joining playlists and navigating the application straightforward.
-
Native Mobile Development
AppZoro developed SharePlay for both iOS and Android using Swift and Kotlin. Firebase supported backend requirements including real-time synchronization and authentication.
-
Testing & Validation
Testing covered functionality and user experience, with attention to playlist synchronization, application performance and usability under different conditions.
-
Deployment & Post-Launch Support
SharePlay was launched through the App Store and Google Play. Following deployment, the product was monitored and updated based on user feedback.
Results
The published SharePlay case study does not provide verified user growth, revenue, engagement percentages or other post-launch performance metrics. The results below therefore focus on product characteristics confirmed by the source. The completed product provides a collaborative music experience where users can create and share playlists with friends, contribute songs from their own libraries and interact through synchronized playlist activity. The application was made available across iOS and Android, with launch support for the App Store and Google Play.

Client Testimonial
The team asked better questions than we did. We arrived with a feature list and left the first workshop with a shorter one that actually described the program. Twelve weeks later our clients had something they open every morning.
