ImSafe Now: A Wearable Beacon and a Network of People Ready to Answer
ImSafeNow connects wearable beacon technology to a community the founders call the Network of Helpers, so women and children can ask for support the moment something feels wrong. AppZoro built the product across Android, iOS, and web.

Overview
Most safety apps assume you have a free hand and a few seconds. ImSafeNow was built for the moments when you have neither. The signal starts at a wearable beacon instead of a screen, and it goes out to people who have already agreed to respond.
The client wanted a safety network rather than a single app. A wearable beacon sends the signal, the platform carries it, and a community of registered helpers responds. AppZoro designed and built that system across three platforms, and connected the wearable side to the app so that one press reaches real people.
Three Technical Challenges
Building a safety product that people could rely on when conditions were at their worst.
-
Notifications that help rather than nag
We tailored how beacons respond across weak and unstable networks, so the signal still holds up in low coverage areas.
-
Sobriety maths that survives a time zone
We treated accidental alerts as a core requirement from the start, keeping the helper network focused on calls that turn out to be real ones.
-
Private data on a shared phone
We applied memory tracking techniques to manage usage and cut down on collisions, so the app stayed responsive while an alert was moving through the system.
Solution
Based on the client's idea, AppZoro built ImSafeNow around a wearable beacon and a Network of Helpers.
The product was developed across Android, iOS, and web so helpers and help seekers share one system regardless of device. Firebase carries the backend and the messaging between them. Beacon responses were tuned rather than left fixed, which keeps the signal usable when network conditions drop. What the client wanted was a path from a single press on a wearable to a person who has already agreed to answer.
Alert accuracy shaped the build from the start, because a network of volunteers only stays engaged when the alerts are real.
Memory tracking kept the app light during active use, so the critical path, sending and receiving an alert, stayed clear. The platform is live on Google Play, the App Store, and the web.

Journey to Success
-
Understanding the Real Need
Before any design work, the team spent time on research and conversations with the people closest to the problem. The aim was to separate safety features that sound useful from the ones people would actually reach for. Those conversations set the objectives and the standards the product had to meet.
-
Designing for a Bad Moment
The interface was drawn for someone who is stressed, rushed, or not looking at the screen at all. Prototypes focused on making the core action obvious and everything else quiet. Usability came first, and the safety features were built into that flow rather than layered over it.
-
Building in Short Cycles
Development ran in iterative cycles so each piece could be reviewed and adjusted quickly. Beacon behaviour, memory handling, and the Firebase communication layer were the areas that took the most passes. Feedback from each round fed straight into the next.
-
Testing Against Messy Conditions
Testing focused on the situations that actually break a safety app: weak connections, unstable signals, and long running sessions. The team checked reliability and performance across these scenarios rather than only on ideal setups. Fixes went back into the build before launch.
-
Launching Across Three Platforms
Release was planned so users and helpers moved onto the platform without friction. AppZoro worked with the client through the rollout on Android, iOS, and web. The product is live today on Google Play, the App Store, and the browser.
Results
ImSafeNow went live across all three platforms it was planned for. The beacon layer gave the product a way to reach help that does not depend on someone unlocking a phone and finding an app, and the Network of Helpers turned a vague idea of calling someone into a defined group who can actually respond. Tuning beacon behaviour and memory usage kept the app dependable in the conditions where safety apps usually fail. The platform runs today on Google Play, the App Store, and the web.
